The next edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) will be
broadcast on the Jio Cinema app. Besides serving a high-definition stream and 6
inch mobile version, the application is going to provide a technologically
advanced experience to watch it.
The digital broadcast of IPL 2023 will be enhanced. As a
part of "Live Sports Broadcasting", the concept of ‘appointment
viewing’ will provide a comprehensive experience for cricket viewers across the
country.
How to understand ‘Appointment Viewing’?
We all have noticed that when you are playing cricket on TV
or online, score cards, stats, charts, cartwheels and records flash on the
screen from time to time. These graphics give an idea of the current position
of the game or of a player. However, the viewer will have to wait to view these
graphics as they are projected onto the screen in the viewer's mind. There is a
"day view" that is a game changer.
This technology will enable the Jio Cinema user to watch all
these with one click instead of waiting for the broadcaster to watch it.
For example, Virat Kohli bats with a tailender to take the
score past 200. The viewer wants to know what relationship is established
between no. 3 and No. 10 batsman in the IPL or how about this – someone is
watching a chase and wants to see the strike rate at which the team is chasing,
vis-à-vis team that batted first. Watching all of it in
real time.
Will Jio Cinema live stream IPL for free?
Earlier, user had to get Hotstar subscription to watch IPL
live streaming. But now, since digital broadcasting of IPL has changed, many
companies said that Jio Cinema will live IPL matches for free. However, this
clearly has not caught on with policymakers.
