Gautam Gambhir's violent celebration followed by a heated
exchange with Virat Kohli after LSG's win over RCB in the final match has set
the internet on fire.
Gautam Gambhir has been a man of few words and few words
for much of IPL 2023. But Monday night's emotional performance at the M
Chinnaswamy Stadium, brought him a wild celebration, which set the internet on
fire. No one would have thought that Lucknow Super Giants would have cleared
the chase of 213 against Royal Challengers Bangalore, especially after losing
three wickets and playing hard. But Marcus Stoinis' powerful mid-century,
followed by Nicholas Pooran's blitzkrieg half-century, put LSG on course for a
big win before Ayush Badoni's poor dismissal gave RCB the chance to deny them
the win. In the end, after the last game was full of drama, where Harshal Patel
made a mistake in his effort in the end without fighting and Dinesh Karthik
picked up the last ball, LSG won by one wicket. And amid the joyous celebration
at LSG's dugout, Gambhir's heroics set the internet on fire.
With one out of two required, Chinnaswamy was silent before
going crazy as Harshal dismissed LSG batter Jaydev Unadkat. RCB still have hope
to win the match in Super Over. The defenders were brought close to deny this.
RCB skipper Faf du Plessis had a long final chat with the bowler after LSG
batsman Ravi Bishnoi, who was on the non-fighting side, took off his helmet.
Batter Avesh Khan swung his bat against the lower order and
failed to connect. But he started immediately for one, like Bishnoi. However,
for RCB, wicket-keeper Dinesh Karthik, who took out his right hand, wobbled at
the worst possible time, allowing LSG to complete a one-and-done win by one
wicket.
Avesh and Bishnoi were quickly caught by a cameraman
celebrating a thrilling victory before being joined by their teammates. Captain
KL Rahul was also happy with his celebration, but what left Twitter buzzing was
Gambhir's wild celebration, who was seen looking nervous before giving his LSG
teammates a high five.
After the warm-up ceremony, Gambhir walked to the center as
players from both sides lined up to shake hands. When Gambhir came face-to-face
with RCB legend Virat Kohli, the pair quickly exchanged glances and ended up
shaking hands as Gambhir continued to bowl.
