The midnight arrest of Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut in an alleged land scam case sparked protests by party workers in various areas of Mumbai. The matter also disrupted parliamentary proceedings as opposition MPs accused the Center of misuse of powers.

Here's your 10-point cheat for this amazing story:

3.     Mr. Raut's brother said the Uddhav Thackeray-led Shiv Sena was firmly behind the Raut family. "Shiv Sena and Uddhav ji are firmly behind us. Our legal battle (on Sanjay Raut's arrest) has begun," Sunil Raut said.

4.     Mr. Raut, a Rajya Sabha MP, is a key member of the Thackeray team, which is caught in a bitter battle with the Sena faction led by Eknath Shinde. Shinde, now Chief Minister of Maharashtra, led the uprising that toppled the Sena-Congress-NCP coalition government of Uddhav Thackeray.

5.     Mr. Raut was arrested last night. He was arrested earlier after a day-long raid on his residence. After he missed the call twice, officers of the Law Enforcement Directorate raided his home. The investigating agency will take him to court today and seek his arrest.

7.     Before entering the Enforcement Directorate office on Sunday, Raut told reporters that the agency's action was aimed at trying to weaken the Shiv Sena and that a "bogus" case was being prepared. The Sena is in the middle of a leadership battle between factions led by Uddhav Thackeray and Eknath Shinde.

8.     The BJP criticized the Sena leader for skipping the talks. "Why is he afraid of the executive directorate when he is innocent? He has all the time for press conferences but no time to visit the investigating agency's office for questioning," said BJP MLA Ram Kadam.

9.     In April, the Enforcement Directorate attached assets worth over Rs 11.15 crore belonging to Mr Raut's wife Varsha Raut and two of his associates.
