The death toll in the terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir's
Rajouri district has risen to four as one of the injured civilians succumbed to
his injuries in hospital.
Nine other people who were injured in the incident are
being treated, and doctors at the government medical school in Rajouri said the
condition of some of them was critical. Some of the seriously injured were
taken to Jammu.
This happened in Dangri last night. Police said that two
armed terrorists stormed three houses and opened fire indiscriminately. A
massive search operation has been carried out to identify terrorists. The
medical superintendent of the college, Dr Mehmood H Bajar, confirmed the death
of four people and said that two of the injured have been shifted to Jammu for
further treatment, PTI reported.
There are also those who are looking for things in the past
like Deepak Kumar, Satish Kumar, Pritam Lal and Shiv Pal. This is the second
civilian killing in Rajouri district in the last two weeks, after two people
were killed outside an army camp on December 16.
The mayor of Dangri criticized the authorities, calling the
attack a major security problem, PTI reported. There is a sense of intimidation
and investigations are being carried out in some areas of the region, he said.
The attack created panic in the region. Several companies
have called a strike today to protest the incident and demand immediate action.
The BJP supported the bandh call.
A group of people gathered outside the Rajouri hospital and
shouted against Pakistan and terrorists for killing innocent people. Citations
were also issued against Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, district
administration officials and security forces.
