"President Biden and Prime Minister Modi will discuss
cooperation on a range of issues, including ending the Covid-19 pandemic,
fighting the climate crisis, strengthening the world economy and promoting a
free, open, rules-based international mandate to strengthen security, democracy
and prosperity in the Indo-Pacific, "Biden's spokeswoman Jen Psaki said in
a statement on Sunday.

The meeting will further deepen relations between "our
governments, our economy and our people," he said. "The two leaders
will support the ongoing dialogue on the development of the Indo-Pacific
economic framework and the provision of high-quality infrastructure,"
Psaki said.

In Delhi, the State Department said the two leaders would
review ongoing bilateral cooperation and exchange views on recent developments
in South Asia, the Indo-Pacific region and global issues of common concern. The
United States, India, and many other world powers have spoken of the need to
guarantee a free, open, and prosperous Indo-Pacific behind China's aggressive
actions in the region.
China claims almost the entire disputed South China Sea,
although Taiwan, the Philippines, Brunei, Malaysia and Vietnam are part of it.
Beijing has built artificial islands and military facilities in the South China
Sea.

“The virtual meeting will enable both sides to continue
their regular and high-level engagement aimed at further strengthening the
bilateral Comprehensive Global Strategic Partnership," it said in a
statement.

External Affairs Minister and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh
will hold talks with US Secretary of State Antony Blinken and Secretary of
Defence Lloyd Austin today.
The meeting comes at a time of growing pressure to buy
Indian oil from Russia. US President Biden will discuss "the consequences
of Russia's brutal war against Ukraine and the reduction of its destabilizing
impact on global food supplies and commodity markets," the statement said.
On March 21, Biden said India was an exception to Washington's allies, who had
a "shake" in it. reaction to the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
