Mumbai on Monday reported 1,118 new COVID-19 cases, about 38
per cent less than the previous day, while no fresh death due to the infection
was registered in the metropolis even as the active tally shot up to 11,331,
the local civic body said.
Of these, the number of COVID-19 cases in the city increased
to 10,811,865, while the number of victims remained constant at 19,573,
according to the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC).
Mumbai had the number of four-digit coronavirus infections
for the seventh day in a row, although it reported 685 fewer COVID-19 cases in
the last 24 hours compared to 1803 on Sunday.
According to the bulletin, 676 patients recovered from the
respiratory illness in the last 24 hours, pushing up their cumulative number to
10,50,961.
The active cases in Mumbai rose to 11,331 and the increase
in infections between June 6 and 12 was 0.144 percent, the BMC said.
Remarkably, the doubling of coronavirus infections in the financial capital
fell below the 500-day threshold in 475 days from 513 days on Sunday.
The level of positivity, as found in 100 tests, was 11.61
percent. The metropolis typically registered fewer COVID-19 cases on Monday
compared to other days due to a decline in the number of weekend trials.
According to the bulletin, 9,622 COVID-19 studies were
conducted in the metropolis, which is at least since June 6, and their total
number reached 1,722,99943. On Sunday, 15,922 swab samples were tested in the
city.
Of the 1,118 new cases, 1,046 were asymptomatic and 72
symptomatic patients were admitted to hospitals, six of whom were placed on
oxygen support, the BMC said. The bulletin states that out of 24,877 hospital
beds reserved for coronavirus patients in the city, only 478 beds are currently
occupied.
However, the metropolis remains unoccupied with unsealed
buildings and interiors.
