India recorded a slightly higher score on the Covid-19 chart
with 1,086 new cases in the last 24 hours and received a cumulative number of
coronavirus cases of 43,030,925, the latest bulletin of the Ministry of Health.
The new infections exceeded 1,000 after two consecutive
days, with hundreds of new cases reported. The number of infected is now 36
percent higher than yesterday's 795 cases.

The death toll rose to 5 21,487 with 71 deaths in the past
day, according to data updated at 8am. Among the 71 new dead were 66 from
Kerala.
Meanwhile, 4 24 97 567 people recovered or were released
after Covid-19 infection.

The daily positivity rate was recorded as 0.23 per cent,
while the weekly positivity rate stood at 0.22 per cent.
Active cases in India fell to 11,871, representing only 0.03
percent of total infections, while the national cure rate for Covid-19 remained
at 98.76 percent, the ministry said.

A total of 15,496,699 doses of vaccine were administered to
the eligible groups in the last 24 hours.
India primarily administers Covishield from the Serum
Institute, Covaxin from Bharat Biotech and Russian Sputnik as vaccines against
deadly coronavirus disease. More than 1.85 billion cumulative doses were
administered nationwide to the COVID-19 National Vaccine Station.

India's Covid-19 figure exceeded one million on December 19,

million on June 23 last year. After a period of fashion decline, the country in
January 2022 again witnessed a third wave powered by the more portable Omicron
variant.
