that his wife had spoken to their daughter on Thursday night.
More than two days after Nikki Yadav (24) disappeared, her
partner Sahil Gehlot (24) continued to deceive her family, telling them over
the phone that he had gone to Dehradun or Rishikesh with his friends and that
he was work hard. on her wedding preparations, her father told The Indian
Express on Wednesday. Sahil is accused of strangling Nikki early on February 10
and then putting her body in a refrigerator in the dhaba owned by her family.
The family became suspicious, according to Nikki's father,
it was Sahil's father who later informed them that their daughter was dead and
that his son had surrendered to the police. While police officials said that
they were informed about Nikki's crime by a secret informant, sources said that
it was Sahil's father who contacted the police.

“When my daughter's phone was found switched off on Friday
and Saturday, we were worried. This is unusual because it calls back
immediately or leaves a message. On Saturday, we called our daughter, and she
woke up. We started calling all his friends. My daughter got Sahil's number and
told us she knows him," said Dutt.
“He told me that Nikki went on a trip with her friends and
left her phone because it didn't have a balance/charge. He kept changing
locations in his statements - in one call he said he was in Dehradun and in
another he mentioned Rishikesh. He said he could not join them for this trip
because he was getting married,” said Dutt. “
On Sunday, he stopped answering our calls. The next morning,
he called saying that he was going to spend the night and that my daughter
would be back on Monday. Then I got suspicious and told my younger daughter to
arrange to contact Sahil's parents,” she said. “Her father answered the call
but said they were busy with the wedding. In the evening, his father told me
that something was wrong. He said that they handed him (Sahil) over to the
police after he confessed that he had killed him. I was confused, but the
police called me after a while,” said Dutt.
