India reported 20,409 new Covid cases on Friday - slightly less than the previous day but still at the 20,000 mark. The total number of cases in the country so far stands at 43,979,730. On Thursday, India saw a rise in daily Covid-19 cases with 20,557 new infections in a single day.

According to Union Health Ministry data, the number of active cases in the country is 1,43,988, which is 0.33 percent of the cumulative cases. A total of 47 deaths were reported within 24 hours. The total death toll in India is 5,26,258.

The rate of return in the country is currently at 98.48 percent.

India's Covid-19 vaccination coverage has crossed 200 crores - 2,03,60,46,307. In the last 24 hours, 38,63,960 people have received vaccine doses. In the 12-14 age group, 3.88 crore people received the first dose and 2.76 million the second. More than 6.11 crore people in the 15-18 age group received their first dose and more than 5.09 crore their second dose. More than 5.02 crore preventive doses were given to people over 60, healthcare and frontline workers, and more than 3.42 crore people aged 18 to 59.

Meanwhile, a total of 3,98,761 Covid-19 tests were conducted in the last 24 hours.
