At least 11 people died in a large fire that broke out in
the early morning hours at a wooden burial ground in Telangana, Secunderabad.

Police said twelve migrant workers from Bihar had been
arrested at a congress located in the entire Bhoiguda area of Secunderabad at
the time of the fire. While one worker escaped the fire by jumping from the
first floor of a two-story building, eleven workers were killed.

The cause of the fire is thought to be a short circuit at
Godown. The case is under investigation, officials said, saying the fire had
been extinguished.
The workers could not save themselves because there was only
one internal spiral staircase in the building, NDTV officials said.

Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao expressed
regret over the incident and announced compensation of £ 5,000 for each of the
families of workers who died in the fire. He also commissioned
Secretary-General Somesh Kumar to arrange for the repatriation of her bodies.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi said he was "injured in a
fire" in the fire and announced compensation of ₹ 2 lakh each for workers'
family members.
