Prime Minister Narendra Modi
today inaugurated Asia's largest air show, Aero India 2023, in Bangalore. The
14th edition of the event will showcase indigenous resources and technology to
partner with foreign companies.
1. Aero India 2023 will feature
aerobatics as well as major exhibitions and trade shows for the aerospace and
defense industry.
2. Nearly 809 companies from 98
countries are participating in Aero India 2023.
3. The theme of Aero India 2023
is "The Track to a Billion Opportunities".
4. Although the event will be
dominated by the military, it will also reflect India's efforts to make changes
for growth in domestic tourism and rebuild its brand abroad.
5. The Narendra Modi government,
as part of the "Make in India" policy, insisted that manufacturers
such as Lockheed Martin Corp, Boeing and Airbus share technology or manufacture
more than parts in the country.
6. 251 joint investment schemes
of ₹ 75,000 crore may be signed between various Indian defense companies
abroad.
7. Air India is preparing to
announce a controversial contract to buy nearly 500 jets from Airbus SE and
Boeing Co, worth more than $ 100 billion at list price.
8. Indian Air Force Chief Air
Marshal VR Chaudhari led the Gurukul formation in a flypast during the opening
ceremony of the mega air show.
9. US Ambassador to India
Elizabeth Jones leads the largest delegation of US ambassadors to the biennial
air show.
10. A pair of F-16 Fighting Falcons, one of the premier fighter jets of the United States Air Force (USAF), will perform daily air shows. The F/A-18E and F/A-18F Super Hornet, the US Navy's most advanced multirole aircraft available today, will be on permanent display.
