With Oscars 2023 buzz for Telugu film RRR rising in the West, the team including SA Rajamouli, Jr. NTR and Ram Charan hosted a special screening of the film at The Directors Guild of America Theatre for Academy members earlier this month. A clip from the session is going viral where Rajamouli spoke to the media ahead of the screening. In the clip, he is explaining that RRR is not a Bollywood film but a Telugu movie from south of India.

Talking about the songs and fight sequences, Rajamouli explained, “RRR is not a Bollywood film, it is a Telugu film from the south of India where I come from, but I use the song to move the story forward rather than stopping the film and giving you a piece of music and dance. I just use those elements to move the story forward.”

He added, “At the end of the film, if you say I didn’t feel it like for three hours, then I know I am a successful filmmaker.”

RRR’s ‘Naatu Naatu’ won Best Original Song at the Golden Globes 2023 and Critics Choice Awards. The film won Best Foreign Language Film at Critics Choice Awards 2023. The song has been shortlisted for Best Original Song for 'Naatu Naatu' for Oscars 2023.

RRR stars Jr. NTR and Ram Charan in the leading roles along with Alia Bhatt and Ajay Devgan in special roles. The film was released last year in March and went on to become a blockbuster.
