At the NMACC’s gala event on Saturday, several celebrities including Shah Rukh Khan, Alia Bhatt, Ranveer Singh, Varun Dhawan, and Rashmika Mandanna among others performed. Interestingly, during Varun’s performance, supermodel Gigi Hadid was brought on stage.

Actor Varun Dhawan, who is often hailed as one of the best actors who respect women, made the netizens angry during the grand opening of Nita Mukesh Ambani cultural center in Mumbai.

Varun gave an amazing performance on stage on Saturday. However, it did not suit many social media users that he called the model Gigi Hadid on stage, hugged her and kissed her on the cheek. The moment caught on camera has been circulating on the internet, sparking a lot of negative comments.

"Why did Varun Dhawan pick up Gigi Hadid? This is not a plan," wrote one social media user. "Varun Dhawan lifting Gigi Hadid is a shame on the internet today," another user tweeted.

After facing backlash over his performance, Varun, on Sunday morning, hit back at the trolls in an apt way. “I guess today you woke up and decided to be woke. So lemme burst your bubble and tell you it was planned for her to be on stage, so find a new Twitter cause to vent about rather than going out and doing something about things. Good morning,” Varun clarified.
