Amid the controversy surrounding Pathan, YRF's upcoming
action thriller, the makers of the film have been asked to implement some
changes by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC). "Just to clear
all questions about the film Pataan: the film has reached the CBFC review board
for certification," said Prasoon Joshi, Chairman CBFC. Joshi said the CBFC
committee directed the filmmakers to implement the suggested changes in the
film, including music, before handing over the revised film to the editing
board.
Joshi added that as the board followed the established
process, they wanted to strike the right balance between the creative
expression of the filmmakers and the emotions of the audience. "As this
method is carefully followed and put into practice, I will repeat that our
culture and our faith are wonderful, complex and diverse. We should be careful
not to explain it through myths , which distracts from what is true and real,”
he explained.
Joshi added that it is important to protect the trust
between the creators and the public and asked the creators to continue working
on it. Pathan, which stars Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone in lead roles,
is set to release in January 2023.
However, the film has already found itself in hot water with
many. The film has already faced a firestorm for Shah Rukh Khan's first
statement. However, the recently released song from the movie Besharam Rang has
created controversy. Many criticized the song for Deepika's look in a saffron
bikini and sultry dancing, with many right-wing thinkers hesitant to call the
song "vulgar".
Shah Rukh's green shirt in the song angered many. When the
song was criticized for the saffron bikini, Deepika wore four different outfits
in the song, and the saffron bikini was on screen for only 20 seconds.
Politicians like Madhya Pradesh Home Minister Narottam Mishra and State
Assembly Speaker Girish Gautam also objected to the song and sought coverage of
the scandalous incident.
