Although Kangana Rananut's performance in Thalaivi was a
huge hit with everyone, the film did not leave a mark at the box office.
Kangana Ranaut starrer Thalaivi is set to release in
September 2021. The film is based on the life of late actor-turned-politician
Jayalalithaa. Although Kangana's performance in the film was a hit with everyone,
Thalaivi did not leave a mark on the industry. More than a year after the
film's release, it has now been reported that Thalaivi's distribution company
has asked the actors to pay Rs 6 crore.
Why is Thalaivi's distributor asking for a refund?
Thalaivi distribution company has apparently paid Rs 6
crore for the rights to distribute the film. However, this amount is still not
available. Although the distribution company has sent letters and emails to the
manufacturing company for payment, they have not received any response till
date. As reported by E-Times, it is now thought that the distribution company
may take legal action against the perpetrators. However, there is no consensus
yet.
Kangana Ranaut's Dhaakad was also a loss
After Thalaivi, Kangana Ranaut's Dhaakad also failed
miserably at the box office. Although the film was made on an estimated budget
of Rs 85 crores, it earned only Rs 2.58 crores. According to a Bollywood
Hungama report, the producers of Dhaakad also faced a loss of Rs 78 crore.
Kangana is currently working on her next film - Emergency
Meanwhile, Kangana Ranaut is currently working on
Emergency. He is not only directing the film, he is also acting in it. In the
film, Kangana will be seen essaying the role of former Indian prime minister
Indira Gandhi.
Apart from Kangana, Emergency also stars Shreyas Talpade as
former Indian Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, Anupam Kher as the late
political leader Jayaprakash Narayan and Mahima Chaudhry as the late Pupul
Jayakar, a writer and close friend of Indira. The film will also star Milind
Soman as Sam Manekshaw. Kangana made it clear that although Emergency is a
political film, it is not an Indira Gandhi biopic.
