In a big relief to Bollywood actress Jacqueline Fernandez,
Delhi's Patiala House court granted her bail on Tuesday in the 200 crore extortion
case.. While declaring this, the court also asked the actor to sign a bail bond
of Rs. 2,000,000. Fernandez had sought bail, arguing that since Sukesh
Chandrasekhar had investigated the money laundering case and submitted the
charge sheet, there was no need to keep him in jail.
On the other hand, while talking to CNN News18, Jacqueline's
lawyer said that the actress will file a petition for release from the money
laundering case. For the uninitiated, the Bollywood actor has become the
subject of investigation by the Directorate of Law Enforcement (ED) in
connection with the case. The court told the lawyer last week when the actor
was on bail that they wanted a trial soon in this case. In addition to this,
the Delhi court criticized the ED for not arresting Fernandez.
The court criticized the ED and asked: 'Why haven't you
arrested Jacqueline despite giving LOC? The other accused are in prison. Why
should you pick and choose a policy? As part of the case, the ED also called
Jacqueline Fernandez several times, and she was listed as the first accused in
the supplementary charge.
The Central Agency believes that Jacqueline knows that
Sukesh is an extortionist and is involved in a scam. Earlier, the ED said that
the allegations against the actor and Sukesh were "beneficial" to his
family and friends. Narrating his response to the central office, the actor
said that he was also a "victim of the modus operandi adopted by
Sukesh". He went on to say that his death sentence was unjustified.
