Not only in India, the death of Punjabi singer and
politician Sidhu Moose Wala sent a shock wave to Canada. Twenty-eight-year-old
rapper Shubhdeep Singh Sidhu - better known by the stage name Sidhu Moose Wala
- was shot dead on Sunday night in the Punjab district of Mansa, near his home.

The loss of young life also caused sadness in Canada. The
Ontario-based rapper shot to fame, local media reports highlighted, after
moving to the country as an international student.
A report on the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation website
underlined how his was an underdog success story. People from the Punjabi
community - based in Brampton - were quoted as saying that Moose Wala did what
many could just dream of and he was extremely talented. Many of his admirers
were left teary-eyed with the news of his death.
Moose Wala's numbers had found place on the Canadian
billboard in a short musical career spanning three years. He was killed a few

Another report on the Canadian news website globalnews.ca
quoted some locals as saying it was a "big loss." Canada, which is
said to be one of the friendliest countries for immigrants, has many people
from the Punjabi community.
Shortly after his death, the Canadian rapper Drake also
published a tribute on Instagram. The death of Moose Wala was also mourned by
many Indian artists.
But for the newly formed Punjabi government, investigating
the case is one of the most challenging cases it has faced since March. Bhagwan
Mann government has been accused of reducing the rapper's security, which is
accused of moving against "VIP culture".
